Often described as a smaller and more friendly Irish version of London, Dublin is a very lively and appealing city, with more than enough accommodation to cope with high visitor numbers. However, when the city is hosting a major event, such as the Summer Music Festival in August and the Dublin Marathon each October, hotels are less easy to come by.

If possible, do try to stay in Dublin city centre, where you will be able to walk to all of the main attractions, including the Guinness Storehouse and the spreading Phoenix Park - that is if you have the time. Hotels along O'Connell Street are always in demand and range all the way from cheap to luxury, being close to theatres, shops, Parnell Square, Temple Bar, and the Ha'Penny Bridge, which crosses the River Liffey to the south.

There are also some quality hotels located in North Dublin near the port, but the majority can be found within the city centre area.

The four-star Contarf Castle Hotel is located in North Dublin and is one of the best in the city, while not far from the port at Sir John Rogersons Quay, is The Ferryman, which is a cheaper two-star establishment. The three-star Hotel Isaacs in the city centre itself is always a good choice when staying in Dublin.
